The Smarter Way to Enhance Your Skin

The skin treatment options on the market today can seem bewildering. Who really needs yet another laser therapy? Well, if you have wrinkles, lines, acne scars, rosacea or other skin blemishes, CO2 DOT may be just what the doctor ordered...literally.

This new fractional CO-2 skin resurfacing laser achieves results similar to the Fraxel® laser by transmitting microscopic columns of light energy to create a matrix of treated and untreated skin. This technique allows rapid recovery with benefits substantially similar to a fully ablative treatment. It is an ideal option for treatment of pigment, skin laxity/texture, wrinkles and acne scars. Patients can address the deeper lines around the mouth, crow's feet, and even the lines and laxity on the neck and chest.

CO2 DOT Therapy gives you the best of both worlds by offering the benefits of a traditional ablative laser without the discomfort and lengthy downtime. This treatment:

  • Tightens skin on the face, neck, chest, hands and arms
  • Reduces blemishes, stretch marks and scars
  • Improves the appearance of lines and wrinkles
  • Lightens pigmentation
  • Softens irregularities and scarring
  • Treats sun damage and sun spots
  • Stimulates collagen production

The DOT resurfacing laser beam is fractionated into a precise scan of thousands of microdots of energy. Each dot of energy - only 350 millionths of a centimeter in size - replaces the skin and collagen structure beneath while the microburst of heat energy from the carbon dioxide laser source tightens the surrounding collagen skin structure. This enables full, rapid regeneration of new skin without the rawness that can occur with fully ablative treatments.

Fractional laser treatments are ideal for all skin types and colors. Before treatment, you may want to consider having a VISIA Complexion Analysis to show the current state of your skin and recommend appropriate therapies. During the procedure, treatment coverage and depth can be customized for your unique skin needs. CO2 DOT treatments take about an hour, with ideal results achieved after a series of treatments spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart.

Most patients have almost no discomfort during treatment. To prepare for your treatment, numbing cream is applied about one hour before the procedure, and if you ever get fever blisters, Valtrex™ is prescribed as a precaution. Cosmetics may be applied to the treated area as soon as the day after. Because CO2 DOT Therapy stimulates collagen production, you will be able to achieve a longer-lasting result compared to treatments that only address the surface of the skin.

With DOT CO2 fractional resurfacing, we will see a red pinkness and some swelling, particularly around the eyes for 3-5 days, or as long as 7-10 days. If you say, "I want to have a shorter recovery time," we will choose to treat with lesser energy settings. At higher energy settings there is increased redness, and longer red pinkness, but fewer treatments may be required.

Results can be dramatic with even a single treatment. Several treatments may be needed for deeper lines. Treatments can be repeated with as little time separation as 2 to 3 weeks, and as far apart as several months. Since this treatment enables regeneration of new skin, your best results may be seen in 6 to 9 months.
