Laser Lipolysis - Like Liposuction But Faster, Easier...

Laser lipolysis represents a major advance over traditional liposuction for the removal of Unwanted Fat. Like liposuction, the procedure removes excess adipose (fat) tissue from diet and exercise resistant problem areas such as the abdomen, waist, hips, thighs or buttocks. Additionally, though, it can treat smaller areas like the face, under the chin, neck, upper arms, knees and ankles. The procedure itself takes advantage of the latest developments in the use of lasers in aesthetic medicine. First, the treatment area is numbed and inflated with an anesthetic solution. In addition to minimizing discomfort, the solution makes the fat cells more fragile. Then, a pinhole incision is made with a "micro-cannula" (a flexible surgical tube) that's a mere 1mm in diameter or about the same size as the needle used for a blood test.

Next, an optical fiber is passed through the cannula to the target area. Laser light energy pulses through the fiber where it targets unwanted fat, breaking it down both thermally and chemically. The result is a light, oily substance that is either removed through gentle, low power suction or is simply re-absorbed naturally by the body.
