Dysport
Dysport
As botulinum toxins have proven their effectiveness time and time again, new neuromodulators continue to improve upon the protein, maximizing the relaxing capacity and transforming facial wrinkles. Not only that, but neuromodulators like Dysport reach beyond the bounds of cosmetic treatments, offering relief to various medical conditions. For anti-aging remedies and medical miracles, consider Dysport treatments.
Areas of Concern
Dysport has been approved for safe and effective use in a multitude of ways. From cosmetic to medical, Dysport can be used to treat the following concerns:
- Forehead lines
- Mouth and lower facial lines
- Neck bands
- Excessive sweating
- Muscle spasming
- Weak jaw
What is Dysport?
Similar to Botox, Dysport is a neuromodulator designed to relax the underlying muscle contractions that cause wrinkles to form. Just like other neuromodulators, Dysport’s solution utilizes protein, botulinum toxin, to limit muscle spasms and decrease the appearance of wrinkles.
Procedure Process
Most injection procedures operate mainly in the same way. Much like Botox, Dysport injections only take between ten and twenty minutes, making it a convenient treatment to fit into your daily schedule. Our expert injectors will be able to get you in and out with little to no discomfort, so you can get back to your regular life without trouble.
Before Your Procedure
Non-surgical cosmetic treatments rarely require exorbitant amounts of preparation, and Dysport is no different. Before your session, it’s a good idea to make sure your face is clean and free of any products, but Dr. Key will wipe your treatment area beforehand regardless. Anesthetics are rarely required, but you can discuss utilizing a numbing agent in your consultation if you have a low pain tolerance.
During Your Procedure
The actual procedure is relatively quick and painless—most patients experience a sense of pressure rather than pain. Small syringes with fine-tipped needles puncture beneath the surface of the skin into the dermal and muscular layers. Once placed correctly, tiny injections are administered to the treatment area, and Dysport works its way into muscle tissues.
After Your Procedure
Dysport may take up to three days to develop visible results, so some patience is required after your procedure. Immediately following your session, redness and swelling are to be expected, but should fade shortly. Dr. Key will send you home with a list of aftercare instructions to follow—this will likely include avoiding exercise or touching the area for 24 hours.
Results
Results from Dysport do not appear immediately and will take time to fully develop. After the swelling has diminished, patients should be able to see results developing within two to four days. Full results will continue to improve for a week after your procedure and will offer you youthful, rejuvenated skin for three to four months. Regular maintenance is required for the longevity of your Dysport results.
Frequently Asked Questions about Dysport
Can dysport be used for crows feet?
Yes! In fact, the crowsfeet area is one of the most common places we inject Dysport. When properly injected, Dysport softens the wrinkles and crinkles that occur around the eyes.
Can dysport be used on forehead?
Absolutely! The forehead is one of the most popular places on the face for Dysport injections. When properly injected, Dysport softens the horizontal lines of the forehead.
Can dysport be used under eyes?
Yes! Dysport can soften the crinkles that occur under the eye with smiling or squinting.
Can dysport lift your eyebrows?
Yes! Dysport injected to the tail of the brow will in most cases allow for a lateral brow lift. Many patients love the look created by this Dysport brow lift, although a few consider it too subtle and not worth it. The results depend on the number of units used, the placement of the units by your injector, and your own individual muscle anatomy.
Can I exercise before Dysport?
Absolutely! There are no restrictions on activity BEFORE Dysport injection. However, we ask that you refrain from aerobic activity AFTER your injection, just for the rest of the day.
Can I get a facial after Dysport?
You can get a facial either just prior to Dysport, or anytime the day after injection (or later). We ask you to refrain from any rubbing of the skin or facial manipulation for 6 hours after injection of Dysport.
Can I shower after Dysport?
Showering after Dysport is OK but make sure to keep the water temperature on the cooler side. Hot showers can cause facial flushing and increased circulation to the face can cause the Dysport to shift location, potentially leaving you with results you don't like.
Can I sleep on my side after Dysport?
You should not lay down on your back, side or stomach for at least 6 hours following your Dysport injection.
Can I wear makeup after Dysport?
Yes you can! The needle we use to inject Dysport is very small and the wound closes very quickly. We ask you not to rub or manipulate the area for 6 hours after injection, but if you wanted to lightly dab a bit of product on the area, thats OK!
Can you get dysport after Botox?
Some patients will find that alternating Botox and Dysport every few treatments maintains optimal longevity of results, however this is relatively rare.
Can you use Dysport for laugh lines?
No. The appropriate treatment of laugh lines involves other types of treatments, such as fillers, lasers, PDO threads, Sculptra, etc.
Is Dysport better than Botox?
Dysport and Botox are equally effective treatments for dynamic wrinkles formed by repetitive facial movements. Both injectables use botulinum toxin type A to relax overactive facial muscles and smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
Which looks more natural, Botox or Dysport?
Patients can achieve a more youthful appearance and natural-looking results with both Botox and Dysport. Optimal results are achieved when Dysport is provided by a board-certified dermatologist like Dr. Key or a certified medical provider.
Does Dysport help under-eye bags?
No, Dysport cannot treat under-eye bags but it can smooth fine lines around the eyes. Dermal fillers are the more effective treatment for under-eye bags and they can be combined with Dysport to address multiple skin concerns in one procedure.
Can you get a lip flip with Dysport?
Yes! A lip flip is a non-surgical option for lip augmentation that uses neuromodulators like Dysport to relax the muscles above the mouth, flipping the upper lip. This gives the upper lip a subtle augmentation or enlargement.
Who should not get Dysport?
Although Dysport is safe for most patients, those with an allergy to botulinum toxin, cow milk, a history of neuromuscular disorders, and those who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding should not receive treatment. If you have an active skin infection in the treatment area, we will ask that you wait to receive treatment.
