Before Your Procedure
Before your HALO procedure, you will meet with Dr. Key and our laser technicians to get a comprehensive understanding of treatment and what you can expect. HALO is appropriate for many skin types and tones. Our team will take a detailed medical history and ensure your skin is in good health before treatment.
Because HALO typically requires multiple treatments for best results, our team will complete a detailed schedule of sessions spaced weeks apart. You’ll also be given pre-treatment instructions such as stopping all retinol use and avoiding sun exposure.
During Your Procedure
Your HALO procedure will begin with cleansing the skin and putting on eye protection. A topical anesthetic might be applied if discomfort is a concern. The HALO handpiece will then be gently moved across the treatment area. The handpiece emits dual wavelengths to generate gentle heat and stimulate collagen. This might cause a warming sensation but is generally tolerable.
After Your Procedure
Patients often report a mild burning sensation following their treatment. This sensation is very much like the feeling of a sunburn and dissipates after a few hours. Redness and swelling commonly occur and usually last between 2-3 days. We suggest you schedule your Halo session on a Friday so that you have adequate recovery time over the weekend.

You will notice some improvements in the first 2-5 days after treatment. You will see more improvements in pigmentation, texture, and tone over the next several weeks, creating a notable HALO glow. 14 days before your treatment, it’s best to avoid:
- sun exposure (including tanning beds)
- sunless tanning creams or sprays on the treated area
- wax or depilatory creams on the treatment areas
