Predicted Trends in Aging Prevention and Cosmetic Technologies for 2015

The best way to predict the future is to create it.

As a clinical researcher and physician for more than 40 years I’ve been focused on regenerative cosmetic medicine technologies. A desire to prevent and reverse aging is the number one reason patients come to Key Laser.

Trend: Combining Technologies for Better Results

In the last couple of years two new technologies brought advances in non-invasive aesthetic medicine treatments. Ultherapy offers a non-surgical lift for the eyebrow, neck and under chin areas and ThermiSmooth tightens and smoothes skin with precision tools that target tissues with heat to successfully reduce wrinkles.

Because no existing technology is a one-size-fits-all solution to prevent and reverse the signs of aging I led a study to determine what treatments, tools and techniques could deliver the greatest results for patients. This original work led to my first granted US patent, that combinations of treatment may well amplify each other, and offer to our patients the most dramatic improvements.

In response to the findings, Key Laser introduced Ultherapy Plus combining the lift and tightening of Ultherapy, with the skin tightening of ThermiSmooth. When the ultrasound energy of Ulthera treatment is combined with the precision of thermal image guided ThermiSmooth RF skin tightening, patients see a dramatic difference and report the greatest satisfaction.

The future trend in laser aesthetics will be combining thermal imaging with treatments to offer better treatment through precision and greater safety through improved monitoring. Inspired by the enhanced results I was seeing through study of this combination I wrote three peer reviewed articles that were published in the Journal of Drugs and Dermatology and presented my findings at industry events last year.

Trend: Exciting Advances in Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine is the most talked about area of medicine today. From finding new ways to treat diseases and injuries to actually reversing aging, regenerative medicine is offering the most exciting advances by healing tissues and organs.

The rising population of older adults and recent technological innovations have driven growth and we predict you’ll continue to hear more and more about advances in the field in the coming months.

At Key Laser our cosmetic regenerative treatments combine Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP, with our injectables, PRP plasma masks used after non-ablative resurfacing (Fraxel, or Clear & Brilliant) or ablative resurfacing (carbon dioxide resurfacing or CO2).

Trend: “Selfies” Accelerating Demand for Aging Prevention

New studies are showing increased photo sharing on social platforms is increasing demand for cosmetic medicine treatments as users are holding themselves to microscopes. Both men and women have become equally aware of the aging process and comparing themselves to others they see on the social platforms like never before. We predict this trend will continue as the average age of patients will continue to decrease as more people want to prevent the signs of aging before they begin to show. As that trend continues to increase the next chapter in cosmetic medicine will be aging prevention.
